An effective character and citizenship education initiative requires or can be enhanced by involvement, effective professional development, commitment, staff capacity, professional learning committees, and effective action research.
The heart of the matter is that children learn to be better citizens and have better character through adults around them, and schools are an important place for this learning to occur. Focusing on student learning and growth will result in more effective character and citizenship education.
